Gather & Curate - 3rd June 2021


The Course

You don’t need any previous experience to attend this workshop however we equally invite those of you who are already versed in creative outlets, whether that be styled shoots, blogging, selling, or as a digital creator, to learn how to nurture your brand or personality through our teachings.


How the Course works

The workshop will be held in person at Sandburn Hall. Sandburn is located directly off the A64 on the outskirts of York towards the North Yorkshire Coast. The workshop will take place in the Grand Function Hall that you can see more of here

 Learning will be a mixture of theory and practical and will cover lessons such as:

1. What is a Flatlay?

We delve deeper into the definitions and expectations of what a flatlay is and what it can mean to you and your brand.

2. The anatomy and biology of a flatlay.

Looking at preparation, the components and make up of a flat lay and detailed evaluations to help you understand the organic nature of styling.

3. Flat lays and brand integrity.

Understanding how composition and continuity are integral to creating authentic and organic content to strengthen your brand integrity.

4. Gathering your styling kit.

The essentials, pit falls and must haves in collecting and purchasing items to breathe life into your creations.

5. Taking time to plan

Education in best practices to clear time and space to create your best work.

 6. Curating

Hands on opportunity to curate your own content, understanding the importance of visceral elements, movement and space.

7. Recording and Editing

Understanding the multiple opportunities within a flat lay composition and editing them to fit suit your brand aesthetic.



The workshop will run from approximately 10am – 3pm and will cost £85. 

Within the price of your booking, you will be provided with two refreshment breaks as well as a light two-course lunch.

Please note, enrolment closes on the 18th May for both course dates.


Further Information

 For our first two dates, the workshop will be run under the current Covid guidelines. We are allowed to run this under the rules of further education and work purposes and we will adhere to Sandburn Hall’s rules as well as ensuring what takes place within the workshop is all run safely.

 Full joining instructions including directions to the venue, what you need to bring and an overview of the day will be provided two weeks before the course.

 Please note that bookings are non-refundable unless we have a waiting list of participants wanting to join at which point it will be at the organisers discretion. 

If restrictions change and we are unable to host this course on the dates given due to any change in Government policy, we will look to reschedule dates.
